Pugsley Pump?

My drive home had me thinking, what “on the bike” pump do you Pugsley riders carry with you?

  1. I’m not a pugsley rider…. but those tires look like they need more than a simple hand held pump.

  2. I know:) That was my concern.

  3. Unless I’m going a long way out I don’t carry a pump at all. It’s pretty reckless, but I haven’t ever got a puncture on the Pug and I’m feeling a bit bulletproof.

Self Propelled Devo (MTBR) did huge Pug mileages and got a stack of punctures from the thorns they have in California. He recommends a high-volume frame pump mounted under the top tube.

I’ve only got a largish “mini” pump so I know when I do need to use it I’m in for a 20 minute work-out.

  4. Most of the time I carry a mini-pump and CO2 cartridges. I’ve only punctured once and I was able to make it home before I lost all the air. It was close, the last half a mile I was down to 3 or 4 psi. During the Arrowhead 135 last February I carried a high pressure frame pump.

  5. Thanks for the info guys. I think I’ll get ahold of a frame pump!
