Pugsley is finally complete!

That’s right. Pugsley got her front brake installed today. And, she got a frame bag to hold her tools and giant tube. I must say thanks to Antoine for the frame bag idea.

The rest of the day, I did almost nothing. I did get in a little bike building at the LBS. That’s it!

QUESTION: Do any of you know if the brake bosses are 8 or 10mm. I’m going to get those plugs.

UPDATE: An email from Surly confirmed that the brake bosses are 10 x 1.25 mm.

  1. I don’t think it’s complete just yet! It’s only my opinion, but I think the rear brake cable hanger on the seat post clamp needs to come off before it can be considered complete. Sorry, is that nit picking?

  2. Tis a thing of beauty for sure!

  3. I’m with Doug on the brake hanger, and while you’re at it you could (carefully) unscrew the cantilever brake posts and replace them with the screw-in plastic plugs that bike shops have.

WHAT A MACHINE!!! and I love the touches of pink!

When you wear out that blue bar wrap some pink would look good.

The Jandd frame bags are nice and roomy and especially handy for me as seat bags don’t fit that well on Thudbuster seatposts.

I would be interested to know how you like the Ergon grips. I would like to try them but wasn’t sure how they would work with swept=back bars like we both use.

  4. Doug-I keep forgetting about that hanger. I’ve been meaning to take it off.

    Rob- Thanks:)

Antoine-I don’t know what possessed me to put the blue tape on. Well, I do. It’s my favorite color and I saw it hanging on the wall. I think it’s that “oh, shiny or blue. must have.”. I’m probably going to change it soon. And pink looks like a good choice.

The Ergon grips are fantastic for me. And when I wrap the handlebar tape thick, it makes a comfortable transition from the grips.

Hmm…need to find those plastic plugs. In fact, I need them for the Monkey, too.

Thanks y’all for the great comments:)

  5. Am I the only one w/out a puglsey? I’m thinking I need one now 🙂 Anyone care to give me tips on how to break the news to the wife?

  6. I’d say it’s time to purchase:) Advice about breaking it to the wife? Can’t really help you there, sorry. Maybe one of the guys could help?

  7. Jeff…My wife and I have a joint household budget and a joint bank account to pay the bills. But we also have separate accounts and our own money. No negotiating required. I buy what ever I can afford or want with my money. The only issue she has control over is how many bikes I have due to limited space.
