The Leaf Peepers are here!

Well, two weeks have rolled by since I planned to post this!

These people come to the Smokies to see the fall color change in the mountains. The colors aren’t brilliant yet, but changing.

I always get a kick out of this sign.

A little bit of color.

This was my view for most of the day, traffic.

Taking a break and listening to the Park radio at the Lawson cabin. This area usually has a mama with a few cubs, but not today.

Cabin on backside of loop. Also known to harbor a bear or two.

Apparently, the most colorful tree in Cades Cove. A couple of us on bike patrol had to hang out here to keep traffic moving. A traffic jam occurred back to this point, maybe a mile or so from the end of the loop. I thought for sure another bear jam was up the way. So, I took off to find it. Most of my riding was along the pea gravel on the side of the road with an occasional hop over to the other side to get through.

What did I find, you ask? Nothing. Just some slow drivers clogging it up. By the time I got to the end traffic was moving again! Guess that’s part of it!

    • Well, I’ve found that doing something you like to do makes life better. If it helps out that’s a bonus. Cades Cove is beautiful. If you ever get down this way, during the summer the Cove is closed to auto traffic Wednesday and Saturday from 7-10am. Bikers and hikers only. It’s a blast and you see so much more. The road was repaved a couple of years ago, so any bike will do.
